Tiger, Tiger, Tiger

Well so much has been said as of late in the media about Tiger and his personal life. I wanted people to voice their opinions on the whole thing and see what our readers think about the situation. So feel free to be completely open and tell us your thoughts on the situation.

Ireland vs. France

Well I don't know who has seen the Ireland vs. France World Cup Qualifier highlights, but when I saw them, I witnessed the worst call ever! Henry takes a ball completely off his arm, I mean blatantly! And then throws a cross over to Gallas for the game winning goal. All we hear about is keeping the human aspect! No I'm sorry, this a new age and we have the technology to review calls, and we should get the RIGHT FREAKIN call. A small country that worships this sport, has to suffer now, because of a poor call made by the referees.

The King

Of course he could play football! When Eric Mangini said for him to come on down, he was serious. He's the complete athlete!

4th and 2

Well this has been the hot topic of discussion since Sunday, when Belichick decided to try and get the 2 yrds on 4th down at his own 28 yrd line instead of punting the ball down the field. And I see where he is coming from obviously you have Tom Brady as your QB, who is very capable of making big time plays, but this decision was made off emotion at the last second, most teams who plan on going for it, know it and run the ball on the 3rd to get the clock down. You have to have confidence in your Defence, yes the drive before Peyton marched down the field but if I remember correctly Peyton already threw an interception in this game, so tell me why couldn't they stop him. In that situation there are so many factors that can go wrong, the ball can get tipped, someone can slip or even just get played so tightly that there is no room for anything to transpire. Belichick is still one of the best ever and this one decision will not define him, but it was a bad decision and if you saw his facial expressions after the game, he knew it!!!

NCAA Soccer or UFC?

Wow, im not sure ive seen anything as amazing as what i saw on thursday night. The BYU womens soccer team played New Mexico and one girl turned into a psycho beast. I truly think this girl could beat me up. If you havent seen this you have to look it up on 'youtube'. There are several clips of her punching girls in their back and face, pulling a girl to the ground by the hair, and slide-tackling a girl and almost taking of her knee. They showed a few of these clips on ESPN and talked a little bit about it. I guess the girl came out with an apology and was suspended. It was a joke. I know some people get emotional during a game and get aggressive. Sometimes people play a little dirty with a pull of shirt here or a little shove there. But this was completely dirty and uncalled for. I cant stand it when people start to play like that. Those BYU players are lucky that one of them didnt get seriously injured and have to sit out the season. This girl is the epitome of a joke.

Joe Girardi

I don't know if anyone saw the report today about when Joe was traveling home early this morning. But what happened, was that he saw that a lady had ran into the wall on the highway I guess as he was traveling home from the game. She had obviously had been in an accident and needed some help, so he stopped his car and extended some help to her. And you know, that's what is all about, that says a lot about your character Joe! And at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

2009 World Series Champs

Well congrats to the yanks on the series. Great overall playoffs for Aroid, even though in the series we wasn't that great. But when he made his return after the surgery early on in the year, that was the turning point! Hideki played awesome, when he played, although speak English for heavens sake, we know you can! Jeter just a class act as always. Andy did what he had to do to get the W, I think he should retire on the note! Damon is a post season specialist and should be signed, he makes a big difference!

Bradford/Overpaid Athletes

Now, why I start by putting Bradford's name in the mix is because he has been under a lot of speculation lately with his injury and his supposed "BIG" year. People are saying that he should of took his Heisman Trophy, signed a 35 million dollar guaranteed 5 year deal, and started a professional career. But instead he decided to stay at OU for another year and try to make a run for a national championship. Was this the right decision? Well it might be easy for some now to say that he should of went into the draft, but that's not hard to say after his season has been an injury ridden disaster. But I beg to differ with the critics, as did my good friend Mr. McConnell. I think that says a lot about a guy who can put the NFL and a big contract on hold to pursue a national championship. Maybe he wasn't ready, there has been first round disasters before and everyone knows it. Or maybe he simply wanted to win College Football National Championship. Maybe we need more Sam Bradford's in all of sports!
That brings me to my next point, as John and I got talking on the subject of money and sports, I thought about the mentality of our day and really what motivates athletes. We find in sports in this day, it is more important to sign the big deal than to win the big game. Now I have many friends who have signed big deals and I know that it is a step in winning a championship, and their has to be a deal signed before you get the hardware. But that is not how we think in this day. We have athletes that I know are perfectly content when they don't make the playoffs or when they have never made the playoffs, in going home and sitting in their big homes, with their nice cars and to them that's what it's all about. And again I repeat myself it is OK for a young athlete, trying to make it pro, to want to finally sign that deal. It's different than that, it is this inner greedy drive to have the biggest deal in sports. It's ridiculous. I have no respect for players like this!
And therefore don't get me wrong, we still have what I call those pure athletes out there, who make a lot of money, but have a different drive, a drive to win. We might know them as Payton Manning, Derek Jeter, Brett Favre, Sidney Crosby, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer. And why I try and name players that are dominating their game now, is because I know you will find people out there, that say,"oh well the game has changed",or "that is only old players that were like that, all new and young players are corrupted." But as we can see they are still out there leading the way. That is those players who are talented, have a drive to win, be the best and in the end just love their game.

Wow what a blow

Well the Dodgers suffered a tough loss tonight against the Phillies and are now down 3-1 in the series. Jimmy ROllins had a two run walk off double with two outs in the ninth inning to win the game 5-4. It was a tough one to watch because the Dodgers desperately needed this win in order to get back into this series. Now the Dodgers are in a big hole and have to win the next three games to move on. Man, the Phillies just wont go away.

Excellent Post Season Weekend!

Props to my Dodgers! Manny finally showed some life towards the end of the series with some hits. He is the x factor! Phillies will win and the Dodgers will take the defending champs down. Hopefully we get the prime time night spot so we don't have to listen to Hamels cry again! Good Bye Red Sox, this blog hates you! A rod and the Yankees are looking good! What a one two punch pitching staff they have! Well its been a bunch of sweeps thus far, except the philly series.

Dodgers v. Angels...keep your fingers crossed.

I'm not going to lie, i truly feel blessed thus far in the playoffs. The Yankees, Angels and Dodgers are all taking control of their individual series'. Lets start with the Dodgers. Thanks to a very lucky error by Matt Holliday to extend the inning in the bottom of the 9th, they have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the NLDS. The Yankees have also won their first two games against the Twins thanks to some great pitching by Sabathia and Burnet. A-Rod has also stepped up in the series with some big hits and a HUGE homerun in the 9th to tie up game 2 and send it to extras. Maybe now his critics will cut him some slack. Now to the Angels and their ridiculous rally monkey and bang sticks, haha. They dominated the Red Sox in their first game with their pitching. John Lackey went 7 2/3 innings and the Angels only gave up a total of 4 hits to the Sox while shutting them out! Stupid Red Sox. Currently the Angels are up 4-1 in the top of the 8th in game 2. So, my dream of an Angels/ Dodgers World Series is still alive....but i would take Dodgers/Yankees as well.

Dodgers Dodgers Dodgers

The red birds are going down! What a game for the dodgers and what a way to start the post season. With Kemp's homer and Loney's 3 hits, their offence is coming around. And our bullpen looked great, if we win today, goodbye cardinals. We broke their ace and made him look quite shaky on the mound. Here we go boys!

It's Back!!!

I proud to annouce that the NHL will be starting tonight. I am excited for the season to start. It's been a long off season and we are ready for hockey season to start! Obviously having played hockey for 15 years, there will be much hockey talk on this blog. Here we go!

Love For Our Boy

Hey best of wishes to Stafon Johnson and we hope for a good recovery.

The Boys In Blue

Alright the Dodgers are really ticking me off right now. Win one freaking game already. As Torre said they are in a interesting situation where they are in the playoffs but havn't clinched yet. And I'm not going to lie they have gotten blown out a couple of times lately. Figure it out boys!

Tough Saturday

Well events like the one that happened yesterday are what have taught me to not allow myself to develop any hope towards BYUs football program. When it comes down to it they just don't have what it takes to become one of the nations elites. Dont get me wrong, they can play some incredible games, and can compete with just about anyone in the country...but they are just too inconsistent. They just cant manage to put a full season together. BYU is a great team that pulls together and plays well in many situations, but the fact of the matter is that from time to time they just get out-played by the athleticism of other teams. Florida State was just too fast for BYUs defense and tore them apart. Its too bad....BYU can kiss their magical season goodbye.

The BYU game wasn't the only disappointing outcome from Saturday's lineup. USC lost a tough one to UW up in Seattle but Pete Carroll proved his point of why he chose to start Matt Barkley over Aaron Corp. Corp struggled all game to get anything going for SC. SC was held to just 110 passing yards which is the fewest passing yards SC has posted under Pete Carroll. Hopefully the Trojans can get into a rhythm on offense and begin to score some offensive points like they have been known to do in the past.

Lastly the Utah loss to Oregon just leaves the Mountain West one step further from gaining national respect as one of the country's elite conferences.

Props To Our Boy

Well I thought it would be appropriate to give a shout out to our boy Steven Lenhart who currently playing forward for the Columbus Crew. John and I grew up with Steve. Congrats on the start last night and also on the win. Nice to see one of our boy representing in the professional realm of sports.

I LOVE LA

Alright lets talk Dodgers! These boys are pulling it togther. Ethier walk off in the 13th, unreal, love the guy. Kemp and Belliard homering yesterday, with Kuroda doing well on the mound. We are 5 games up right now and I think we are just starting to get hot. We need Billingsley to find his rhythm and get Kershaw to stop shagging balls, so he can stay healthy. What happens on the mound going down the stretch is so important. This is our time to start to light the fire. Manny needs to get hot going down the stretch and as we all know he has the ability to be huge factor in this teams success. I love the look of our team right now. Some people will question our pitching going into the post season and say that we don't have an ace that you will need to win the world series. But not all teams in the past have had a Schilling or Hamels. If we look at the White Sox win in 2005, we don't find an ace. Now lets also be clear, they had the likes of Buehrle and Garland, who were amazing. Who obviously had a big part in them winning. But I don't think they are in the same category as a Schilling or Hamels. If Broxton can get into his grove and our top 3 starters can also get hot, I see us going deep in the playoffs. THIS IS OUR TOWN!

BOSTON SUCKS

I thought it would be important for everyone to know that i HATE the Boston Red Sox! I dont like one thing about their franchise. I hate the city, the team, and especially the FANS! I cant really think of more obnoxious fans. I cant stand Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek is a joke, Dustin Pedroia is over rated, and Kevin Youkilis needs to trim the goatee. There was no curse in Boston, the Red Sox just sucked for 86 years!!!
Yankees 26 Red Sox 7

Just a shout out to my boy Nathaniel Joseph Grochmal. He played Two seasons with the Kamloops Blazers at RW. The blazers are in the WHL and Mr. Grochmal would likely be playing in the NHL right now if it weren't for his dedication to his personal beliefs. This is just an old picture i scrounged up. Great flow Nate. Are those highlights?

All respect lost for Serena Williams.

I don't know who saw the match between Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters this past weekend but it was a complete disgrace. Serena Williams made a complete fool of herself by yelling uncontrollably at one of the line judges. The line judge apparently called Serena for stepping on the line on one of her serves and Serena let loose!!! Haha it was pathetic. She walked over to this judge waving her racket at her in rage and began screaming at her. She then proceeded to tell her that she was going to shove a tennis ball down her f@#$ing throat! But she wasn't done. She walked back to the line as if she was going to continue play but then returned back to the line judge and continued scolding her!!! At this point the line judge walked away from her and then it was determined that Serena would be charged a point for her behavior. It just so happened that they were at match point so Serena lost the match. BUT COME ON SERENA, have some class. As if the line judge really had it out for you, she was trying to do her job and shes not perfect. Settle down and play the game. You are a professional, you should know how to behavior yourself. 13 year-olds don't act like that. In my opinion she should be suspended from the next grand slam event. That kind of outburst is completely unacceptable.

My Wife

I thought it would be appropriate to introduce our readers to my wife, who plays volleyball at Pepperdine. This is a sports blog and I happend to have quite an athletic wife(thank goodness). So I will be updating y0u from time to time on their season. They actually will be playing UCLA this wednesday at Pepperdine and then traveling to Hawaii to play a set of matches with them on the weekend. Go Waves

Unreal Weekend

Well I have to first add my approval to the previous posts by John. It was an unbelievable weekend in college football. To start off I was able to watch the Michigan game, and I must say with all of the Rodriquez drama in the past weeks, I felt for the guy and really wanted them to pull of a win and especially a big one at home against Notre Dame. My hat goes off to Tate Forcier the freshman QB at Michigan. He was awesome, a 31 yard run for a TD in the fourth is big time playing. That was one the biggest games in that rivalry of those two teams in their history. Next topic is the USC game and I watched the first half before having to leave to go to my wife's volleyball game. But what an exciting first half it was. Both teams looked fairly even at that point. Although as John and I talked about this game, we both agreed that Barkley needs to get some more passes, they almost look like they don't have full confidence in him yet. I wasn't able to see the end and I saw that they were obviously able to make an amazing drive to win the game. And maybe that game wasn't the time for it, but I would like to see it in the future if this minor injury doesn't hold him back. Overall very pumped about the final result. Fight On! Go Trojans!

Another Great Saturday

So i don't think I've ever been so nervous in my life as i was on Saturday night. I actually lost all hope during that USC-Ohio State game. USC had a very difficult time moving the ball on offense during the second half and it all came down to the last drive. The young QB, with the help of McKnight coming out of the backfield, managed to go about 90 yards and score with just over a minute left in the game! What a great game to watch, and how wonderful to see the look on the faces of the OSU fans after that touchdown....PRICELESS!!! By the way, SC has not lost to a BIG 10 team since 1996! what a streak!
Another great game this weekend was the win of Houston over Oklahoma State. That was a HUGE upset! Oklahoma State was ranked 5th and Houston wasn't even ranked. I love to see big upsets like that in College football, just another testament that they need to create a playoff system. Michigan and Notre Dame, who are both desperate for wins at this point, had a classic back and forth game Saturday afternoon. Both are on the hot seat, but who will lose his job first, Charlie Weis or Rich Rodriguez. Its going to be interesting to see how this season of football turns out.

BIG WEEKEND

So here we are on the eve of the big USC-Ohio State game. The game will be played in the horseshoe with approximately 105,000 loud fans. The question is, How will the USC true freshman Matt Barkley play under those circumstances? I have an answer for that question. USC will win the game Saturday night in Columbus for various reasons. First, USC has not lost a non-conference road game since 2006. B, Pete Carroll is one of the best NCAA coaches in the land and he will have, not only Matt Barkley, but his whole team well prepared for this game. And IV, Ohio State barely squeezed out a win last week against an unranked Navy team! Ohio State is over rated year in and year out. They get all the hype all year long because they put up a good record and then they fail miserably every year in their bowl games. Why is it so hard for people to see that not only OSU, but the entire BIG 10 conference is way over rated. When it comes to playing big games outside of the conference the BIG 10 ALWAYS loses. I am excited for USC to prove to the nation tomorrow night, that even with a freshman, they are a serious contender for a national championship this year. I have USC over Ohio State 24-10.

NCAA Football is back!

This first week of college football was magical. Everything from upsets to injurys have helped flip this season's expectations upside-down, and its only been one week. I was thrilled to see Boise State and BYU beat two ranked BSC teams, one of which was ranked in the top 3 with a heisman trophy winner as QB. Plus, Navy was a 2 pt coverstion away from taking THE Ohio State, ranked 6th, into overtime. I am a firm believer that the way the BCS is set up is a complete joke and needs to be changed. I understand that 9 times out of 10 Oklahoma would probably beat BYU but there is always that one time. And, to be quite honest BYU straight up outplayed OU. BYU had over 350 total yards while OU managed only 260 against the cougar defense. Its also notable that the only TD scored by OU was set up by a dropped punt return by BYU therefore giving Oklahoma the ball on BYU's 30 yard line. Now, you would think that after every anaylist in the nation refused to give BYU a chance this weekend people would suck up their pride and admit that BYU played a GREAT game. But no, all we hear about is Bradford's injury and how OU therefore wasnt full strength......pathetic! Sure Bradford was gone, but last time i checked Sam Bradford doesnt play defense! It was OU's defense that allowed Max Hall and the cougar's to march 78 yards in the last 6 minutes of the game to score the winning touchdown. What, Oklahoma's "supreme" juggernaut defense couldnt stop measly BYU??? I dont understand, I thought non-BSC teams dont even deserve to be in the same conversation as the Oklahomas and Floridas. The fact is, BYU outplayed Oklahoma and deserved to win that game. Maybe people will finally realize that just because someone is better on paper doesnt mean they'll win the game. GO BYU.

College Football Preview

You know as John and I were up to 1:00 in the morning talking about the upcoming season a couple things came to mind.  Well first of all he asked me who I thought was the best team in the country this year and it was hard for me not to lean towards Florida.  Now lets be clear on this blog, I am a USC fan and I would love for a freshman QB to go the distance this year, but lets just say he's got quite a task at hand.  And when we look at the number of returners that Florida will be bringing back, Tebow, and also Urban Meyer running the show, we are presented with a dang good football team.  I mean common back to back championships, anyone can lose at any given time, but lets be honest with ourselves here, Florida will not be losing many football games this year.  Now lets talk about the trojans.  USC every year will have a good team, the best young prospects want to play at the winning programs, one of them being USC.  So I am not writing off the trojans, but it is a big deal that a freshman will be starting this year.  I would love for him to do well, but it will be a big transition for the young guy and it it will be interesting to see what happens in the first couple of weeks in the season.  This isn't high school anymore, I don't care who you are, not too many players just jump in and are stars.  They must learn and adjust.  If someone had to ask me, before the season started I would go florida for a third consecutive title.

Will the Real Rapper Please Stand Up?

OK i know that this is meant to be a blog dedicated to sports but i just drove 11 hours listening to the radio and i am disappointed. Whats with this new "rap" or "hip hop" thats out these days....its a joke. Call me old school but thought rap was supposed require talent. I remember the good ole days when the rapper would carry the beat of the song in his lyrics, THEY were talented. These new guys just talk into a microphone and synthesize their voice and call it good....its a freaking joke. So i want to give a shoutout to Dre, Snoop, Tupac and any other rapper that keeps it real.

Pitino

I'm sorry Mr. Pitino but when you sign up to be the coach of a major NCAA Basketball team, you are signing up for your life to be inspected under a microscope!  The media is just doing their job, they got a video and released it.  Don't have an affair!  You made a fool out of yourself on tv  by accusing all of the local media of being liars.  And if you noticed, he tried to change the focus of interest to Ted Kennedy in the middle of his press conference.

Monday, August 24, 2009

Ok! I don't if anyone saw Burress' interview today on ESPN, but it was ridiculous! The guy in nuts. He talks about how he was in club in NYC and he walked in and all these peeps wanted to talk to him, and he kind of just wanted to get away and take a seat. As he is walking away from the crowd, the gun which he just happened to bring into the club,(why does he have a gun in the club?) started to fall down his pants! And because he didn't want to make a scene when it hit the ground he tried to stop it before it hit the ground. Well somehow as he did this, he just happened to grab the trigger and pop himself in the foot. Sorry Plaxy but shootin yourself in the foot will make a bigger scene then an object hittin the ground in a noisy club. This guy is a crook, nice story Plaxico! But common man you walked to into a club with a gun and shoot yourself in the foot lol, your an idiot! Stop ruining the image of the NFL!

Mr. Grey Beard

Ok. So i know that Favre has been the hot topic of disscussion over the last week or two and its time to move on from this topic but i have to get this off my chest. I am sick off people completely dissrepecting one of the best football players ever to play the game. He has the all time pass yards record, the all time TD passes record and the most consecutive games started record. He has never been in trouble with the league, his team or his family. If the man wants to play football let him play.

Dodgers vs. Cubs

Well I was lucky to score some tickets from a guy at work and was able to catch the game at the Ravine last night. It was a nice night out in LA and the dogders looked real good. Russell Martin went yard in the 6th for a grand slam. It was sick, the place was rocking and that was about it. Manny scored once more, and then the game was over. Although the Dodgers have had a little bit of a rough patch as of late. This is the time for them to get it out not in the playoffs. They are a solid team with Joe Torre and when you got him, you have a real good chance of going deep in the post season. I think they are the best team in the NL. Watch for them down the stretch.

World Soccer Coming To Espn

Espn will be covering The Premier League on Saturdays and La Liga on Sundays! You will see going forth on this blog, that we are trying to promote soccer as much as possible in the US. So tune into these games and help us bring, "The World's Game" to the US!

Plaxico Burress

Burress got 18-20 months in prison for shooting himself, yes himself!!

Finally!

It has happend! Finally John and I have started a blog, where we can voice our experienced sports opinions. We are very seasoned and well rounded in our experience and knowledge of many different sports. We will not sugar coat anything, we will tell it how it is. For example, T.O. is a cocky piece of crap, and that is just how it is. John and I wish to have our own sports show one day and this will be the beginning of something extremely big. Stay tuned for all of our updates and enjoy!
